Bathroom Remodel

This 5' x 8' bathroom is on a slab. We are going to gut it and go back with everything new, except the medicine cabinet & light strip. We are going to clean the exhaust fan and paint its cover.

Before

This is before we did anything. There is a 5 pc vinyl surround with a steel tub. The surround is glued over 4" x 4" ceramic tile and the hot water leaks. It has a three section, one mirrored, tub door.

There was carpet on the floor and a 21" x 24" vanity.

The drywall tape is coming loose where the ceiling and walls meet.

You can see the gap in the back from the loose tape. There is 6" trim ran around the top.

Before
There was a lot of work that went into this one. It was their only bathroom so we had to work fast and forgot to take during pictures.
Here is a basic list of what we did.

1. Removed painted paneling.
2. Removed drywall from both walls up 30" to slide the tub out.
3. Took everything out; toilet, surround, tub, vanity, etc.
4. Modified bathtub plumbing to accommodate new bathtub.
5. Put in 3/4" sub-floor, moisture barrier was already there and in good shape.
6. The rest was just putting it back together.

AFTER

After
Here it is completed.

We put down linoleum and ran new trim everywhere. We put back an 18" x 24" vanity to create more floor space.

That's Crown Moulding running around the ceiling. We trimmed in the tub and surround with 1/2" quarter-round moulding, 3/4" for the corners.

We added two Lion Head Knobs to the dummy drawer in the vanity. The Lady of the house collects Angels so we got her an Angel set. In this picture you see the waste basket, towels and toilet brush. All woodwork is stained Golden Oak except the bathroom doors which are Provincial.

After
Here we have the Angel Border put up. We added the cabinet you can just see on the left side of this picture to make up for lost space in the smaller vanity.

We put a robe hook and two towel hooks behind the door that exits to the hallway.

After
This is the angel light switch cover.
We put in two towel rings instead of a towel bar like they had here before. Notice the angel towels hanging from them, they are part of the set also. You can see the glass shelf we put above the sink along with the soap dish above that.
This is the angel mat that came with the set. She put it in the laundry room leading into the bathroom. The thresholds are custom made by us.
This bathroom was designed by us. We created more open area and more storage space which created better functionality.
